Oil Painting Basics & Beyond

    Patricia will share valuable oil techniques through demonstrations and discussion on technique, design and color.  Students will work from a still life set-up or receive instruction as they work on their own project.   




 



3-Day Workshop with Vicki McMurry

Title: Mastering Color

Remember when learning was exciting? Vicki McMurry will be teaching an oil painting class with dialogue that makes sense. She is known for her color harmony which is presented in her book, "Mastering Color", published by North Light Books. She will be focusing on composition, values, and the psychology hidden in our work. Beginners and advanced artists are welcome.

1 Day Workshop

Painting the Study Portrait

This class is meant to be a learning experience and my hope is to show you an approach that gives you a different look toward painting and portraiture. In this class you will endeavor to capture a likeness of the subject in the alla prima style (look at the definition of alla prima below).   
Fee:  $65. Supplies not included. Class limited to12. You might want to bring a sack lunch.                                     
Agenda: 9:00am - 4:00 pm, Saturday, August 9, we will be painting a portrait from life. Instructor will demo in oils. Lunch around noon.                                                  
Materials: Please bring any materials that you are comfortable with, acrylic or oil. Suggested materials list if you need one:

Alla Prima- A method of direct painting in which the artist applies each stroke of paint to the entire canvas with the intention of letting it stand in the picture as part of the final statement, rather than traditional building of the image with several layers of paint. This method is also used for studies from life before a traditional rendering is done. Note: In the alla prima style you can layer, but it is different from the traditional style.

Painting Essentials I

George will teach the essential exciting way to paint with oi land watercolor. This class is perfect for everyone who wants the inside scoop on hour to apply paint in these two mediums. He has taught extensively throughout the United States. By using a variety of subject matter, from landscapes and still lifes, to portraits, George has established an enviable reputation in all types of media including oil, watercolor, acrylic, pencil, scratchboard and sculpture.

Painting Essentials II

Date: October 25, 2008
Time: 9am - 4pm
Fee: $65

George will teach you how to paint strong, compelling landscapes and still lifes by teaching some of the essential techniques needed to paint in oil and watercolor. This class will cover the fundamentals of composition, color, and value. Instruction will include lecture, demonstration, critiques, and "one-to-one" time with students.

Two Day Cartoon Workshop

Ages: 6-14 yrs.

Forget about realism, perspective, and shading! This is where you are free to let your imagination run wild, and break all the rules. Students will learn to draw cartoons with easy step-by-step lessons that are sure to reap success.
