Increase your child’s creativity in a stimulating and engaging environment at one of the Center For Art & Education’s week-long camps. Select from the many art themes, each of which has been designed by an artist to teach children how to express themselves confidently and creatively. Your child will receive individual attention and encouragement throughout the program. Mutual respect and support is expected in each class. Lessons are designed to allow students to experience a wide range of media and to learn the elements of art. We will help your child discover their creative capacities.

TWO LOCATIONS FOR YOUR CONVENIENCE:
Morning Session is 10:00 am – 12 noon at CAE Studio, 104 N. 13th Street, Van Buren
Afternoon Session is 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm at Brick City Emporium, 3215 S. 74th Street, Fort Smith
Students will complete an art project in each class.
$100 per week for all morning sessions OR all afternoon sessions.
July 6-10 - Learn How to Draw
All great painters know how to draw. Here’s your opportunity to explore basic drawing techniques such as lines, shapes, shading, and how these variables affect texture and depth. Medias used will include pencil, colored pencil, crayon, and charcoal.
July 13-17 - Two Camps in one Week (Only at CAE Studio)
This week, campers will need to enroll in both morning and afternoon sessions ($200)
Jennifer Seward from Hot Springs is back to teach an exciting new art camp. For children 10 to 14 years old, limited to 15 campers. Provide a sack lunch for your child or pick them up for lunch, but be back by 1 p.m. for the second half of this exciting camp.
Hands on Digital Photography Camp
Ideal for any budding photographer, students will learn the art and craft of still and action photography. This camp is fun and experimental. Students will go outside to observe the environment, as well as take still life pictures. They will learn camera techniques and composition while working through daily photo ideas and assignments. We will also use our images to create original works of art and mount our pieces for a final exhibition on the final day of camp. A limited number of digital cameras are available. Bring your own camera if possible.
Learn the art of silkscreen printing. This hands-on class teaches the basics of planning, designing and printing unique images on fabric and paper. Students will explore color selection and design while creating original t-shirts and art work. You will learn skills that will allow you to continue to make prints on your own from home even after this camp is over. Original prints and artwork made from these prints will be prepared for a final exhibition on the final day of camp.
July 13-17 - Playing with Paint (Only at Brick City - Afternoon Session)
This camp will provide many opportunities to try different kinds of paint. Acrylic, watercolor and pastels will be used to paint realistic and abstract works of art.
July 20-24 - Making Art 3D Style
Work it up, work it big, and work in 3D. Using clay, paper mache’ and other interesting material Three-Dimensional object will be the focal point of this camp.
July 27-31 - Scissors, Tape and Glue Everything
This camp is all about putting things together and building. Using found objects and mix media students will experience collage, wall-hangings and building sculptures.
Children will learn about the preschool elements of art: line, shape, color and texture as they draw, paint and create during these engaging art classes.
Coming to your town this summer! Hooray for Heroes! Enjoy a week of super heroes, cartoon creators and commercial art as we paint, sculpt and draw our way through the many aspects of Pop Art.
