Jay Lane is a native of Ft. Smith, AR, now residing in Greenwood. In 1990 he graduated from Memphis College of Art, Memphis, TN with a Bachelor of Fine Art degree. Although design was his major, he has spent the last 20 years or so in professional photography, architectural drafting, and landscape design.
He recently began painting with acrylics with an organic, yet architectural composition that utilizes vivid contrasting color as the ‘subject’. Abstract painting is a very freeing style for him, because he doesn’t have to be concerned with the scale or perspective (the rules) of painting. The color and flow of his work is the work itself.
Lane will be exhibiting a series of paintings that utilize scripture from the Bible as the story with a yellow cross as the character.
