Dede Hutcheson says she prefers working with oil because it is easy for her to work with and she loves the beautiful colors of paint available to make it easy for her to achieve the colors of nature. She is always inspired by the changing colors in nature. Dede expresses her feelings about art , "When I view a scene with sunlight painting beautiful colors on objects, my intent is to capture the moment and share my experience with the viewer. I believe that art is a journey, but you never reach your destination because with every painting you learn new lessons. Nature is the very best teacher."
"Karen Hutcheson will exhibit her abstract artworks. She, too, prefers to work in oil because she finds oil more forgiving and malleable, and feels she can achieve more subtle color shifts with oil. She has recently begun painting with Golden Open Acrylics which dry much slower and enjoys that medium as well. Karen says "Art, to me is about finding a way to express my individuality. Two years ago I began to experiment with abstract painting and have found that particular art form very freeing. I love having absolutely no boundaries when I paint. In a world full of rules, I find it refr
eshing to lose myself for a few hours and let my mind go where it will. Painting serves as a therapy of sorts as it feeds and replenishes my soul."
Robyn Hutcheson Horn will be exhibiting sculpture and paintings. She began sculpting in 1984 working on a lathe ma
king bowls and vases, which eventually evolved into sculpture. Recently she has moved into painting. She says, "The sculpture is about form and texture. It is made of wood, carved from a single piece in most cases. The painting relates to the sculpture with its geomerty and heavy texturing with layers."
A statement by Karen describes the influence art has on their lives, "Growing up surrounded by artists has been inspirational to all of us as a family. We've always been interested in each other's work and hope that viewers of this show will also find something to spark their own creativity." Robyn makes a very similar statement "Art has been a focus for the three of us most of our lives. It has helped us
express our creativity with similarities and
diversity."
