“Seeing Color”
2-day workshop focusing on color
When/Where: CAE Studio – January 13 & 14, from 9am to 4pm (lunch break 12 to 1)
Description: For all levels - beginner to advanced.
In this workshop the class focus will be on training to see color and apply it to a painting by observing and working from a still life. The instructor will do a larger studio demonstration and talk about his process. Students will work in this same process along side the instructor. The class will be working their paintings up in stages, from beginning to a progressed stage of completion. There will be individual critiques and possibly a group critique at the end of the workshop.
Supplies: Bring the supplies you are used to. Although some supplies may be provided, such as an pallet knife, chair, table, and water bucket, it is recommended that you bring what you can just in case.
Paints - no specifics on the type of paint or colors (Instructor will use oils or acrylics - titanium white, cad yellow light, cad orange, cad red medium, alizarin crimson, ultramarine blue, viridian and ivory black)
Brushes - Again, bring what you have (Instructor uses mostly bristle brushes – filberts & flats) pallet knifes
Supports - bring one or more medium sized canvas’ or boards – No less than 12x16, no more than 16x20.
Other - Bring your own easel and small table, a container with a lid (for oils - gamsol or odorless mineral spirits), a pallet (to put your paint on) paper towels, old clothing, and whatever supplies you feel you my need…
Schedule:
Day One, Friday, Jan 13th
Introduction/we will talk about color/ instructor will demo/ class works/ individually critique
Day Two, Saturday, Jan 14th
Instructor will continue demo/class will continue to work/ individual critiques & maybe a small relaxed group critique at the end of the day
